So, this year I’ve been asked again to do a storyboard master class at the Manchester Animation Festival. Tickets here.

I was thinking this time, rather than go through the basics. I’d maybe pick on more specific topics. Talk about things that would be of more value to you. Maybe the class would be a bit more rambling because of that…. but could be fun for a couple of hours.

I’m just putting it out there to see if that would be a good thing and something attendees would enjoy more.

A few things off the top of my head.

Motivating the cut and the camera.
Casual staging.
Proscenium staging.
Composition and forcing the eye.
Eyelines in 2d and 3d
2d and 3d basic workflow.
Thumbnailing.
Developing shorthand.
Maybe even how we boarded an episode of 101 Dalmatian street compared to Paddington bear.
